Sport has impacted my life in many ways. I spent my academic years studying Kinesiology and Health Science while competing as a middle distance runner on the Canadian national circuit. Cycling caught my attention due to the multitude of dynamics involved in such a demanding and competitive sport.

I became a professional cyclist in 2002 competing on the North American and European world-class circuits. I learned essences of cycling while racing professionally and have been able to transform my knowledge into writing.

I found a niche in updating professional team websites with current race reports, writing press releases, conducting interviews and becoming a liaison between sponsors, athletes and team management. This style of writing took on a life of its own and flourished into sports journalism for the worlds top website, Cyclingnews.com.

Working with Cyclingnews.com has expanded my writing and public relations knowledge to a whole new level. My responsibilities have included conducting high profile interviews, writing feature and colour stories, equipment reviews and race reports. These responsibilities have given me the opportunity to learn and take steps forward in my career.

Sports journalism and public relations link my athletic history with my writing skills and knowledge of the sporting industry. This link gives strength, credibility and life to my work.

Quote:

“Lance was an important story line and his story appealed to many people. No body will take over from Lance and the new riders need to find their own direction. There are many great riders here from climbers and general classification riders to sprinters but they have to have another side to their personality to sell to the public. That something is not going to be the same story Lance had it has to be another type of attraction. A great rider has to learn how to appeal to the people. It will be a while to recover from the Lance period just the same as it was for the cycling fans to recover from the Lemond period, he himself was a great rider with a great story. We need to remember that American cycling is growing more and more popular and riders are being noticed here.”
